Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathoners run a great race for NOAH!
We are grateful and thrilled to announce that, thanks to the generosity of so many of those who ran in the 2008 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon, the final tally stands at R190 000 that was raised for NOAH.
Our thanks also to all those people who visited the NOAH exhibition stand in the days leading up to the marathon since their enthusiastic support there allowed us to raise an additional R2360, through the sales of 2008 marathon posters (kindly produced and sponsored by Old Mutual), NOAH slappers and bangles. Finally, thanks to Matthew Lynas from the United Kingdom, one of the placed runners, who donated his prize money on the spot, to NOAH.
We look forward to taking this three year relationship with the marathon to even greater heights next year!

Old Mutual Support for Noah:
The Old Mutual Foundation has been a partner of Noah since 2004 and has contributed to the success of Inqola kaNoah near Pietermaritzburg and Umkhumbi kaNoah Emantanjeni in Maphophoma on the KZN North Coast. This year Old Mutual has taken on a new challenge by funding Gcinamanyavu Noah. Over the previous 3 years a total of R2,150,000.00 has been donated to Noah and these three Arks. This donation has made an indelible impact on orphaned and vulnerable children in KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng.
This support has resulted in the completion of a wonderful resource centre at Inqola kaNoah and has enabled this community project to secure 15 hectares of land that is being used to generate income for the project. This has greatly impacted on the sustainability of this Ark. The committee, volunteers and local community have created a network of support at this Ark for 390 orphaned and vulnerable children providing safety, nutrition, after care and day care.
The support from Old Mutual has enabled Emantanjeni Noah Ark to build a resource centre that has a computer room, activities room and acts as a centre of support and networking for 742 orphaned children.
The children at this centre receive after care, day care and counselling services. Through the partnership with Old Mutual the community here has been able to set up a nodal point in this vulnerable area for orphaned children and their extended families to seek help, support and a broader family network.
In 2007 Old Mutual extended its support to another Ark in KZN, Gcinamanyavu Noah near Table Mountain in Pietermaritzburg. This ark provides care for 216 children in this rural and isolated area. The support from Noah is for the operational costs of this Ark that provides after care services, a nutrition programme, bereavement counselling and training support to the community.
Through the partnership between Noah and Old Mutual the children in these communities are encouraged to stay in school and lead productive and active lives. Furthermore their care givers are enabled to seek employment and participate in economic activities safe in the knowledge that the children are being cared for in a safe and stable environment after school. Each of the Arks and the staff that are employed by Noah maintain high standards, ongoing dedication and commitment and above all a love for these children who have endured so much. Through the commitment we have made to these children we hope to secure a better future for them and the next generation.
