Kingsway Ark is based at the Ekhurhuleni Municipality in Benoni. Many of our children come from families that are headed by children or grandparents, or sick parents. There are an estimated 30,000 orphans in the community. High unemployment levels, poverty and HIV/Aids infection create major problems in this community. Our ark is close to a clinic, and we are able to refer our children for immunisations and anti-retroviral treatment.

Our Ark officially began operating in January 2009, after a lady called Sizathu heard about Noah and approached them for help. We now care for 230 orphans and vulnerable children. Once we have identified problems through our psycho-social support programme, we refer the child to the local social worker.

Our Ark offers:

• Care and home visits to 230 orphans and vulnerable children

• A food garden for our feeding scheme and food parcels
• An RDP house, where we have a kitchen and a storeroom
• Counselling programmes
• Sports such as soccer, netball, athletics and tennis
• Cultural activities such as drama, music and dancing

Ark wishlist:

Kingsway Ark needs a bigger space of operations, since we currently have to pay rent on the RDP house. We’re hoping to get four railway containers to use as a kitchen, office/storeroom, and for two more classrooms/computer rooms.
